During my accidental forays into Germany I ran in to this Watermill that had a nice surprise. This was originally a Grain Mill, but since it's last restoration has been used as an electric Plant, providing or supplementing the local power needs.
The original Water Wheel, if there was something left of it, has been replaced with one made of steel.
Once inside, you are greeted with the expected wooden and stone hardware.
But further exploration, reveals there is something unusual.
A Generator! It looks a little odd amongst the wooden Gears if you are used to the interiors of these Mills.
Why can't modern industrial facilities look like this? OK, stupid question.
I've included a shot of the Bronze Placard, in case anyone wants to translate all of it. In 1350 there was already a Mill present, in 1619 the current Mill was built, in 1721 a renovation was carried out, in 1982 the Dam, Bridge and Mill were purchased by the City of Ahaus and restored.
